Six Swapo councillors who were sworn in two weeks ago, serving in the Oshakati Town Council, have been recalled. This was confirmed by the party’s regional coordinator for Oshana, Samuel Nelongo. Oshakati Town Council chief executive officer Werner Iita confirmed having received the letter signed by Nelongo today recalling. Nelongo said the Swapo councillors were recalled because they allegedly disobeyed the directives given by Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa. He said Shaningwa allegedly directed them to elect Onesmus Shilunga as the chairperson of the management committee but instead they elected Katrina Shimbulu to that position. Although all other directives given were followed all town councillors were recalled while investigations are carried out to determine what had transpired during the election of office bearers. NBC could not speak to Shaningwa as she indicated that she was in a meeting.
