Chaos broke out at the commemoration of Human Rights Day and Namibia’s Women’s Day in Okahandja as a woman had to be physically restrained by police officers. Hundreds of residents turned up for the event at the Nau-Aib Stadium where Margaret Mensah-Williams, Chairperson of the National Council, is expected to deliver the keynote address. The protesting residents demanded Mayor Johannes ‘Congo’ Hindjou officially welcome them at the event and not Councillor Steve Boois. The police had to intervene to calm the situation.
