A 13-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon by hanging himself at his mother’s residence at the Havana informal settlement on the outskirts of Windhoek. The incident, according to Head of Community Policing of the Namibian Police Force, Chief Inspector Christina van-Dumen da Fonsech said the deceased has been identified as Benjamen Shatumbu. It is alleged that the deceased was scolded by his mother over missing money. Shatumbu was supposed to travel to the north for the holiday, the police officer added. Police investigations into the matter continue. The incident follows the suicide of another 13-year-old boy in Katutura last month.
