Four people died in a head-on collision on the road between Okahandja and Karibib Thursday night. The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa Friday the accident occurred around 21h00, approximately 25 kilometres outside Okahandja. Preliminary police investigations indicate that one of the vehicles, a Mercedes Benz driving towards Karibib, hit an oryx in the road. It swerved into the other lane and collided head-on with a Suzuki sedan. “Each vehicle had two occupants and they all died on the spot,” said Mbeha. The occupants of the Mercedes Benz have been identified as the 66-year-old Gottlieb Keib, who was the driver, and his wife Elizabeth Keis. The occupants of the Suzuki were the 29-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger. Their names are known but could not be revealed as their next of kin were yet to be informed. Police investigations continue.
