Two official memorial services will be held for the late Petrus Iilonga. The first, at Etilyasa village, some 86 kilometres west of Oshakati in the Omusati Region, will be held on Thursday. The second memorial will be held in Windhoek on Friday. His body to be flown to the north on Thursday and flown back to Windhoek on Friday morning. Iilonga will be laid to rest at Heroes’ Acre in Windhoek on Saturday. He was accorded a State funeral. The former Robben Island prisoner and trade unionist, who served as deputy minister in various ministries and was a member of Swapo’s central committee, died on 11 December. He was 71.
