Leaders from the Great Lakes and SADC regions have committed themselves to supporting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during the electoral process. The leaders who met on Wednesday feel the violence may compromise the conducive environment for holding elections. The heads of state, who include Zambia’s president Edgar Lungu recalled the need to fulfill the commitments made within the context of the peace and security pact and the framework agreement for peace, security and development in the DRC and the Great Lakes Region.
