Namib Mills has applied to the Biosafety Council for a permit to place genetically modified maize on the market. This move has caused an outcry amongst local consumers, who are now signing a petition to stop the issuing of such a permit. NBC TV News spoke to the General Manager for Innovation and Technology Development in the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST), Dr Vincent Nowaseb, to shed light on GMOs in Namibia.
