The fifth Namibia-European Union Political Dialogue has started in Windhoek on Thursday morning. The one day event is reviewing the various cooperation initiatives in line with the Cotonou Partnership Agreement. International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed appreciation for the contribution of the EU in Namibia, especially in the areas of early childhood development. Nandi-Ndaitwa is also satisfied with the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which Namibia signed in June last year. EU Ambassador Jana Hybaskova reiterated that the union will continue to be Africa’s largest trade and investment partner through various partnership agreements. Training, education and investment will be the EU’s primary focus in the future. Various ambassadors from European countries, based in Namibia, as well as Namibia’s ambassador to the EU and Belgium, Dr Kaire Mbuende, are also present at the gathering.
