Two drivers escaped death on the B1 road, north of NamPower’s Van Eck power station. The incident happened at about 22h00 on Wednesday night, in what appeared to be a suicide attempt. A pistol and some documents were found in the Ford Ranger, raising questions, police say, whether the man might have been on a suicide mission. According to eye witnesses, the driver of a Ford Ranger, was driving at a high speed, from Windhoek to Okahandja, before his vehicle crossed over to the wrong lane – facing oncoming traffic. This resulted in a head-on collision with a Scania truck, which was travelling from Okahandja to Windhoek. The truck overturned but the driver was not injured. The driver of the Ford Ranger was seriously injured, and was admitted into ICU at Lady Pohamba hospital.
