A 47-year-old gardener was brutally attacked by three pit bull dogs at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region on Monday. The same pit bulls had attacked and badly injured a woman and her daughter at the town earlier this year. The incident occurred when the dogs were allegedly released from a cage to go relieve themselves when they attacked the man. The victim, bitten all over the body, was rescued by the dogs’ owner who took him to the Otjiwarongo Medi-Clinic hospital for treatment. Police Spokesperson, Maureen Mbeha, told NBC News that her office was seeking audience with the municipality for possible intervention. There have been three recorded incidents of pit bull attacks on people since 2015. The Otjiwarongo Municipality has no by-law governing the breeding of pit bull dogs and other dangerous pets apart from restricting the public to keep them in enclosures.
