Car owners will now be automatically responsible for any accidents involving their vehicles, even if they were not driving. City Police Senior Superintendent Adam Eiseb says too many drivers run away from accident scenes and it has become difficult to trace them. Eiseb says car owners must therefore be held responsible and will be given three days to bring forward the person who was driving the car at the time of the accident. He said owners should take the warning seriously whenever they entrust vehicles to other people. He noted that they should make sure they can trust these people and that they are not likely to be involved in criminal activities. Owners will also be responsible for any damages to property resulting from an accident.
