The coastal town of Henties Bay in Erongo region now has a tourism centre, built at a cost of more than 8 million dollars. The small town, located about 70 km north of Swakopmund, thrives on the wide-range of tourism activities and accommodation facilities. Mayor Herman /Honeb says tourists found it difficult to access information about such activities and facilities before the inauguration of the Tourism Centre. The Government has identified tourism as one of the industries that significantly uplift social standards of communities. Environment and Tourism Minister, Pohamba Shifeta encouraged other towns to create similar centres because they are a vital part of the experiences of visitors. Shifeta is confident the facility will add value and improve the accessibility of information and services required by tourists. The Henties Bay Tourism Center allows people, especially women who own small businesses, to exhibit their products in its proximity.
