The SWAPO Party leadership in the Ohangwena region has back-tracked on its planned removal of the Helao Nafidi Deputy Mayor. Panduleni Hainghumbi was supposed to be withdrawn from the Town Council and replaced by Lucia Nghililewanga, who was expected to be sworn in last Friday. A letter issued by the party’s Secretary-General, Nangolo Mbumba on 27th July, directed the Regional Co-ordinator, Hafeni Hatutale, to have Nghililewanga installed as a new Councillor before that date. The letter, which Nampa had seen, indicated that Hainghumbi had to be withdrawn for Nghililewanga to be installed, as per a party Politburo’s decision.
