A Windhoek taxi driver was allegedly hijacked at gunpoint in Katutura Central on Wednesday night, by two unknown men. City Police spokesperson Cillie Auala said the suspected hijackers allegedly took the victim’s mobile phone, an unspecified amount of money and drove off with his vehicle. Assistant Superintendent Auala noted that the suspects were still at large. In a separate incident, a group of five masked men forcefully entered the building of the Eagle View Business Complex in the Prosperita industrial area and stole a cash box. This incident was recorded by closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, mounted at the complex along Palladium Street. Auala said CCTV cameras remain one of the most effective security measures in detering criminal activities in and around Windhoek and Namibia in general.
