At least four residential areas in Katutura were affected by a pipe burst this morning. Hundreds of litres of water were lost when a pipe burst along Shanghai street near the Single Quarters in the early hours. City of Windhoek Public Relations Officer Lydia Amutenya confirmed the incident and told NBC News that a technical team was at the site, attending to it. The areas affected are in Katutura Central, East and John Pandeni constituencies, where residents were left without water. The incident came after the Cabinet, in its latest resolutions, instructed Government state institutions to fix leaking taps and faulty plumbing, which contribute to water losses. They were instructed to use their maintenance budgets and work together with the City of Windhoek’s technical team.
