Namibia’s Olympic boxer, Jonas Junius, has been allocated a docket judge for his case, after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the recently concluded 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. Junius was arrested on 7th of August in connection with an alleged sexual assault at the Olympic Village in Rio de Janeiro. Jesse Schickerling, the Mission Head of the Namibian team to Rio says the legal practitioners also submitted Junius’ preliminary defence on Friday. Coach Jacob Gariseb and boxers Mathias Hamunyela and Lazarus Shaningwa, as well as the military attachee at the Namibian Embassy in Brazil, were listed as witnesses. Junius was placed under the care of the Namibian Embassy in Brazil, after having successfully applied for bail, and will remain under their care until the conclusion of the case.
