The bail hearing of Groot Aub Pastor, Elvis Jansen, has been postponed to 26th of this month. Jansen, who faces charges of alleged sexual intercourse with a minor, was in police custody since his arrest by the Rehoboth police last Friday. The bail hearing started in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was postponed by Magistrate Tungweni Velikoshi on Thursday to that date. At Thursday’s proceedings, the father of the complainant was called to motivate his request for bail to be refused for the suspect. Magistrate Velikoshi explained that the posponement was to allow the police investigating team to continue their work. A Chief Inspector of NamPol’s Women and Child Protection Unit, Cathleen Araes, told the court that the investigation was still at an infant stage. The applicant remains in custody at the Hosea Kutako International Airport’s police holding cells.
