Thirty members of the Tsintsabis community in the Oshikoto region have graduated in self-employment courses. The courses, sponsored by the Gender Equality and Child Welfrace Ministry, included tailoring, leatherwork, needlework and bead weaving and ran from two weeks to three months. Cosdec facilitated the training. The graduates thanked the ministry for empowering them through skills development training and the provision of income generating materials. Oshivelo Traditional Authority Leader Nation Nashikaku encouraged beneficiaries to appreciate Government efforts and work hard to become self-sustainable. Minister Doreen Sioka, who handed over the certificates and income generating equipment two-days ago, said the Government was committed to empower people to be self-reliant at all levels. Sioka noted that empowering people will be meaningless if the target group was not ready to embrace opportunities to develop themselves. She encouraged beneficiaries to take care of the equipment for their own benefit. The ministry’s sponsored the training with 114-thousand dollars.
