The closure of the partly-completed Zambezi Waterfront and Tourism Park remains a matter of serious concern to residents of the Zambezi Region. The residents want to know why the facility remains closed, even if not all facilities have been completed as per the original plan. The Government ordered the facility to be closed temporarily, while the Board of Directors seconded Jerome Mutumba to formulate, design and implement a new business model. Mutumba has already completed his work and the tourism park has been registered with the Namibia Tourism Board, NTB. However, the facility is still closed, three months after its temporal closure by the Government. Mutumba also acknowledges that the Waterfront is not only an accommodation establishment, but houses a multitude of facilities. The envisaged three-star hotel, conference centre, shopping mall and floating entertainment are those still to be completed. The residents want to know who will own those facilities now that the Government as a partner has reportedly stopped funding the project.
