Education Minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa says government risks losing millions of dollars already spent on the grade ten and 12 external examinations, if teachers proceed with the country wide strike, and that such a strike would paralyze the education sector. In an affidavit to the Labour Court, Hanse-Himarwa said for the 2016 national examinations, government has already incurred printing costs of more than 10 million dollars. In addition, examination papers have been transported to the different examination centres at a cost of 138 000 dollars.
