Six people, including the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Ulitala Hiveluah, died in a head-on collision on the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road last night. The collision involved a Toyota Fortuner in which the late Hiveluah was travelling in and a red Volkswagen sedan. The accident occurred some 50 km north of Okahandja on the B1 road. According to the police, Hiveluah died on her way to the Okahandja State Hospital. A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Okahandja Police Station and investigations continue. Hiveluah is one of the long serving Permanent Secretary in various Ministries since independence, She served as Permanent Secretary in the then Ministries of Lands and Resettlement, Environment and Tourism, Labour and later Fisheries and Marine Resources, until she retired last year. Funeral arrangement will be announced soon.
