Different social activities took place at Omaueozonjanda village in the Omaheke region over the weekend, to raise funds for the renovation of the Epukiro Junior Secondary School at Post Three and Good Hope Primary School at Okovimburu village. More than 200 community members and learners took part in the social activity at the village. The event was sponsored by the Epukiro Masters’ Club at 30 000 dollars. It was preceded by a series of activities, such as a clean-up campaign, soccer and netball matches between the NBC Omurari Team and Epukiro Masters’ Club. The Epukiro Junior Secondary School and Good Hope Primary School received 20 000 and 10 000 dollars, respectively. Speaking at the event, the acting principal of the Epukiro Junior Secondary School, Monica Kahitu, said the school is in a very bad state. However, she said with the involvement of all stakeholders, such as government, community and business people the school could be renovated and get a new facelift. The special advisor to the Omaheke Governor, Pio Nganate, said despite the fact that the school is old, the buildings have been neglected. At the same occasion, the Chief of the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, Kilus Munjuku Nguvauva the Third, encouraged the community to take care of government properties as their own.
