President Hage Geingob has appointed the Deputy Minister of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare to replace Bernadus Swartbooi as Deputy Minister of Land Reform. The appointment of Priscilla Boois is with immediate effect. The appointment follows President Geingob’s acceptance of the verbal resignation of Swartbooi this week. The verbal resignation of Swartbooi follows his reluctance to adhere to President Geingob’s directive to apologise for remarks he made against Minister Utoni Nujoma and the resettlement program in the public arena. In a statement, the Presidency welcomed Boois at the same time, wishing Swartbooi well in his future endeavors.
