The Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has resolved not to declare dividends this time around to improve service despite an increase in profit of up to 50%.

NWR’s profit increased from N$45.4 million in 2023 to N$68.3 million in 2024.

Brian Masule, Acting Managing Director at the NWR, explained, “The reason for that is that we have a maintenance programme that we need to implement, and we also have a capital programme which includes operational expenditures and capital expenditures like building additional rooms and space and paying for our facilities. Our facilities are quite old; therefore, we need enough cash within our business to be able to address and attend to those programmes.”

Masule stated that the progress is a clear signal that the NWR is regaining its financial strength and operational balance.

“NWR made the profit, or the profit increased, mainly from improved trends in the tourism industry, which, as you may have seen, has been on an increasing trend, and NWR was able to leverage off from the increase in the improvement industry, and therefore our revenue increased accordingly, as did the increase in the occupancy rate of our results.”

He added that NWR will continue to progressively attend to complaints raised by their customers timeously and satisfactorily, saying the company will continue to improve service, modernise key facilities and deepen a culture of performance and accountability.
