Residents of Impalila Island are urging the government to honor the late Founding President,Dr. Sam Nujoma, by realizing his vision of a five-star hotel for the island.
During a ceremony held in remembrance of the founding president by the Impalila sub-Khuta and the village development committee on Tuesday, the village Induna, Imelda Muluti, praised him for laying the foundation for the island’s development, a quest continued by his predecessors.
Muluti highlighted developmentssuch as government services, including a clinic, multiple immigration entry points to Botswana and Zambia from the island, electricity supply, and tarred roads.
She stated that the construction of the five-star hotel would also benefit Namibian residents, as it would be the only locally owned establishment, generating revenue for both the island and the government while creating employment opportunities.
