Husab Uranium plans to fund the construction of a statue to honour the late Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma’s legacy at Swakopmund.

Erongo Governor Neville Andre made the announcement when he revealed memorial plans for the region.

The governor indicated that the project launch for the construction of the statue will take place on Wednesday, 26 February.

Andre said the main regional memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 25 February, at 14:00 at Walvis Bay.

He called on all employers to allow their workers to attend the ceremony and arrange transport for them.

Other activities to honour the late Dr. Nujoma include constituencies, schools, churches, and various industry memorial services.

Such memorials will start on Friday.

Andre opened a book of condolences, which is stationed at his office, and invited the public to sign similar books, which have been opened at all constituency offices.
