The City of Windhoek remains without political leadership after the scheduled election of political office bearers for Monday was cancelled.
This is the third cancellation of the election for the mayor, deputy mayor, and members of the city’s management committee.
Magistrate Immanuel Udjombala last week postponed the elections to Monday, December 9, but City spokesperson Lydia Amutenya stated on Monday morning that a new date will be announced; she did not provide reasons for the cancellation.
The election was postponed last week due to a lack of quorum for the meeting.
The previous week’s meeting was cancelled after the councilors walked out when the presiding officer refused a short break.
