Namibia’s Honorary Consul in Norway, Kjersti Lie Holder, says the time is right to expand cooperation between the two countries.
Trade between Namibia and Norway is currently confined to meat, fish, grapes, and small iron pipes.
Holder spoke to nbc News following a brief meeting with President Nangolo Mbumba at State House on Friday.
“As I explained to the President when he visited in his capacity as Vice President two years ago, we really energised and revitalised the cooperation between the two countries. These have, of course, long historical ties, dating back to prior independence during the struggle, and now we are moving into a new phase, and there is an expansion in cooperation with the universities of the two countries, as well as the museums’ side, tourism, and, of course, energy. This is a big and important part of Norway as well as Namibia, where you are starting your green hydrogen and oil and gas industries, plus fisheries. There are so many common threads between the two countries.”
