Ndiyona Constituency Councillor Eugen Likuwa, who stands accused of assaulting his wife on Christmas Day, on Tuesday filed a formal bail application in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court. Likuwa filed the application after Magistrate Hellen Olaiya denied bail on Monday due to the seriousness of the case. Olaiya postponed the matter to Friday following a request by the State to cross examine the investigating officer in the matter, who was not available during the bail hearing. The accused is being represented by Beatrix Boois from BB Boois Attorneys. Likuwa was arrested on Sunday for allegedly punching his wife several times and strangling her, which resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred at Arevashweneka village in the Kavango East Region’s Ndonga Linena constituency. -NAMPA
