The current Namibian law on the use of force by law enforcement agents in effecting an arrest or any other police duty does not comply with relevant international standards. This was revealed in a study conducted by the Legal Assistance Centre and titled ‘Use of Force by Law Enforcement Officials in Namibia’. The report launched in Windhoek proposes that amendments and clear guidelines be laid out in the law in consultation with all affected parties.
