The Minister of Health and Social Services, Kalumbi Shangula has issued a stern warning to staff members who are caught stealing from the ministry, cautioning that they will be dealt with by the law. “This despicable act undermines the efforts of the Government to ensure that our facilities have sufficient stock of these items. The ministry has gone to great lengths in recent months to procure and distribute pharmaceuticals and clinical items to our facilities around the country,” Shangula stressed. The minister made these remarks during the official opening of the newly upgraded Utuseb clinic, yesterday. According to the minister, the completion of this clinic is a further demonstration of the commitment and the excellent work that the Government is doing to safeguard the well-being of all Namibians. The N$15,6 million upgraded clinic has brought about a modern facility with additional consulting rooms, a pharmacy, a multipurpose room, and nurses’ accommodation, from the previous one-room clinic. -NAMPA
