The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation’s (NBC) German language radio station, Funk Haus Namibia, turned 41 and the celebrations were held in Swakopmund. In 1990 Namibia declared English the official language in the country, however, 10 indigenous languages are spoken in Namibia and the German language, spoken by about 30 000 Namibians, is one of those recognised Namibian languages.
