Bilateral relations between Namibia and Botswana saw the easing of a passport requirement for residents of Impalila Island and Kasika Village which is situated in the Kabbe-south constituency of the Zambezi Region. The two governments agreed to do away with the stamping of passports of persons in Impalila Island and Kasika Village by providing border passes instead of the ordinary passport document read a statement released by the ministry’s spokesperson, Sakeus Kadhikwa. The issuing of border passes instead of a passport would ease the burden on the residents of constantly applying to renew their travel documents. Last week, a Namibian daily reported that the Ministry of Home Affairs is facing a backlog of at least 8 000 travel documents. The border passes will allow Namibians to travel via the Kasane and Ngoma border posts.
