SWAPO Secretary-General Sophia Shaningwa has directed party structures to mobilise members to hold peaceful demonstrations countrywide in defence of President Hage Geingob. Shaningwa, in a letter circulating on social media, says the SWAPO leadership has noticed with concern, “of some unscrupulous members of society who want to undermine the democratic election process exercised members, supporters and sympathisers of Swapo and other peace-loving Namibians”, by inciting demonstrations against President Geingob. The demonstrations will commence on 7 March until the inauguration of President Geingob for his second term on 21 March.
