Deputy Minister of Education Arts and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka announced the declaration of the Shark Island a heritage site at a ceremony. Shark Island is situated on the Shark Peninsula in the coastal town of Lüderitz. It was a German concentration camp where thousands of Nama and Ovaherero people were imprisoned during the German imperial regime.
