The Mines and Energy Ministry (MME) has announced a reduction in fuel prices, effective 1 April. The fuel pump price at Walvis Bay will drop to N$11,35 per litre, down N$1,35 per litre. A litre of diesel 50 PPM will from next week onwards, cost N$12,13 per litre, a drop of N$1,20 over the current coastal pump price. The relief comes as major oil-producing nations, including Russia and Saudi Arabia, disagree among themselves on proposed production cuts, related to the global COVID-19 outbreak. That indecisiveness, Mines Minister Tom Alweendo says, has left the oil market flooded and over-supplied with petroleum products and in turn, have resulted in major price drops between late February and March 2020.
