Payments of old-age grants, orphans and vulnerable children as well as the food bank parcel distribution schedule will not be disrupted during the 21-day lockdown for COVID-19. The Department of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare in the Presidency have instructed divisions responsible to effect these payments. However, Minister Doreen Sioka, says arrangements would be made to minimise overcrowdedness at pay points. In addition, social workers would also remain on duty to assist with queries and other needs.
