The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has reminded all Namibians that the COVID-19 containment regulations apply to the whole country. It says in a statement that the only regulation that is of limited impact at present is regulation six, which only applies to the Khomas and Erongo regions. That regulation has also put Rehoboth and Okahandja under lockdown. The ministry says COVID-19 containment regulations ban public gatherings, movement of persons, the sale of alcohol, and they enforce the closure of open markets and informal trading activities. It says restaurants, cafes and coffee shops countrywide may only operate take-away functions, and not allow any sit-in clients. It urges members of the public to co-operate with law enforcement and other authorised personnel and refrain from creating or distributing misinformation about the pandemic. The statement further says the Minister of Health, Dr Kalumbi Shangula is the only person, who has been authorised to disseminate information regarding the outbreak.
