Thirty-three people were arrested and fined over the weekend, for contravening Regulation 11 of the State of Emergency. They were given fines of between N$2 000 and N$4 000. Regulation 11 prohibits the sale of alcohol. In terms of the regulation, a person selling alcohol during the state of emergency could get a fine of N$2 000 or six months imprisonment. The highest number of arrests was 21 in the Zambezi Region, followed by Ohangwena Region with four and Kunene had two arrests. Police in the Omusati Region also dispersed a crowd of about 350 people, who had gathered for a prayer session at a residence in the Oshi-kusha-shipya village. The group was educated on the dangers of COVID-19 and ultimately dispersed.
