International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said to fight COVID-19, absolute cooperation is needed. She said this highlighting the impact of COVID-19 globally. The minister said Namibian students in Wuhan, China received contingent money COVID-19 emergency and necessary arrangements are in place to get donations for medical equipment. Nandi-Ndaitwah also called on all students stranded abroad due to the global lockdown, to approach their embassies for possible repatriation. The Deputy Premier says the Government’s post-lockdown exit strategy is to restore all sectors such as the economy, social and education. “The children we have taken off the streets during the lockdown, will we send them back on the streets after?” she asked rhetorically. She also expressed Namibia’s support for Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Health Organisation Director-General, after he was criticised by US president Donald Trump for alleged China-bias. Nandi-Ndaitwah said this during the daily update from the COVID-19 Communication Centre this morning.
