The acting managing director of the Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), Matthias Ngwangwama today visited the Hardap Resort, to inspect the disinfection process of the rooms that were used to house people who were kept at the resort as part of the COVID-19 quarantine measures. Ngwangwama has assured potential visitors to the resort that the place remains safe as all 40 isolated people were released without any symptoms. He also described the employees of the NWR as heroes and heroines who have been at the frontline, taking care of the quarantined people during their 14-day stay at the resort. The NWR has received strong backlash from some Mariental residents for allowing the 40 people to be quarantined at the resort. The critics are accusing the entity of using Mariental and the region as a dumping site for the contagious disease. The Hardap Resort has been home to 40 Namibians who came into the country from Europe. Thirty-nine of them were released yesterday and the last one left the resort this morning. The NWR has availed Hardap and Gross Barmen resorts as quarantine facilities for COVID-19 related cases.
