Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia does not condone any form of discrimination. She said this in regard to the situation in Guangzhou, China, where a number of African nationals were subjected to discrimination due to COVID-19. The minister said the Chinese authorities and the African ambassadors have met to discuss the situation. Since then, the situation has normalised, and their lives continue as usual. A number of Africans were tested and put in quarantine. More testing will follow. According to her, Chinese authorities, under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, called on Chinese nationals to be sensitive and not practice discrimination. Regarding Namibians who are stranded in other countries, the minister called them to remain where they are and register themselves to Namibian embassies. She said many Namibians cannot be repatriated until the air space opens. Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised her call for them to comply with rules and regulations where they are. She was giving an update on Namibians abroad at the COVID-19 Communication Centre this morning.
