There has been a deadlock between farmers who are beneficiaries of government’s Affirmative Action Loan Scheme through Agribank. As a result of persistent drought it became difficult for the farmers to honour their loans repayments Interest charged on their loan arrears accumulated into millions of dollars.. Following a protracted period of refusal by the bank to meet with them, Agribank’s board finally granted the farmers and audience. NBC’s news anchor, Surie Gaomas-Guchu spoke to Bonnie Handura, a member of the committee representing the affected farmers.
