Forex trader Michael Amushelelo and his co-accused Gregory Cloete have been granted bail of N$35 000 each during their first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Amushelelo and Cloete, who stand accused of fraud and money laundering, are required to report themselves on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week to the police before their next appearance on 14 April next year. The duo will also be ordered to surrender all travel documents to the investigating officer, desist applying for new travel documents and may not leave Windhoek without authorisation from the investigating officer. Taimi Ileka-Amupanda, from Sisa Namandje and Company, represented Amushelelo while Cloete was represented by Kadhila Amoomo. Only relatives and friends were allowed inside the courtroom following a commotion caused by a large crowd that gathered at the court. Magistrate Ivan Gawanab presided over the matter.
