There is no slowing down for parents as they continue with back-to-school shopping, and long queues can still be observed in shops.

Despite the reopening of schools two weeks ago, parents in Windhoek continue to queue at popular uniform retailers, rushing to secure essential school attire for their children.

It appears that the end of this shopping frenzy is still far from sight.

Salesman at Boundary Wholesale Retailer, Fillemon Ivula, says long queues at the shop occur frequently throughout the year, and at times, they are required to bring in extra help.

“It honestly gets full; when there were only a few days left before school started, Boundary was completely packed. You couldn’t even see to the other side—that’s how full it was. But we managed to help each and every customer with what they needed.”

Customers urge fellow shoppers to be punctual.

“Try to be punctual because the line here is no joke! January is a time when money is hard to come by, and things like that.”

“The money you save throughout the year should be set aside so that you can buy your uniform in December. In January, the stock might run out, which could delay your child’s return to school. And for the young ones, please advise your parents to buy uniforms early before it’s too late.”
