Local banks have assured clients that the impending strike by bank workers in South Africa will not impact on operations in Namibia. The banks were reacting to messages circulating on social media advising clients to ensure that they have funds for at least two days or so, ATM machines will be closed. Most banks in Namibia either issued statements or sent out messages through SMSes that all services such as ATM, internet banking, fuel cards, will not in any way be affected by this planned strike and will continue to be fully operational. Clients have been advised to contact their banks should they need more clarity.
