Some streets at the Buitepos settlement in the Kalahari constituency of the Omaheke Region have been named after Namibian heroes, leaders and iconic figures. Liberation hero Elliot Hiskia, Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy Kornelius Shilunga, Omaheke Governor Festus Ueitele and Kalahari Consituency Councillor Ignasius Khariseb all have streets named after them. This is a new settlement that started as a reception area for people dismissed from commercial farms in the area. It is situated near the Buitepos Border Post along the Trans-Kalahari Highway.
