Namibia will, as from Tuesday, enter stage two of the state of emergency, declared to prevent the spread of COVID-19. President Hage Geingob made the announcement following a Cabinet review on the status of COVID-19 in the country. The current countrywide lockdown will lapse at midnight on Monday, with stage two starting on Tuesday.

The distribution of food to vulnerable people in Omahake, to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19, has started. More than 26 000 people in both urban and rural areas are expected to benefit.

About 37 Namibians who were stranded in Johannesburg, South Africa are due to arrive later today. This is the second group to be repatriated, another 31 Namibians arrived from Cape Town on Tuesday, This brings the total number to 68.
