About 50 homeless people are said to be living in Windhoek’s central business district. Some of the group members are now being accommodated at the Dutch Reformed Church, as part of the Government’s call to provide shelter to homeless people during the state of emergency.

Residents of Ombili informal settlement in Oshikango are finding it hard to make ends meet during the state of emergency period, as their businesses are closed. The majority of them who stay in the settlement are Angolan nationals who do not qualify for food aid given to Namibians.
Khomas Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Joseph Shikongo reiterated that law enforcement agencies will operate within the amended regulations of the State of Emergency.
