SWAPO says it has been addressing challenges the country had faced since independence and is fully aware of the many socio-economic challenges still to be tackled. The party’s president Hage Geingob said this while addressing the SWAPO Star Rally in Gobabis on Saturday.

Namibia Economic Freedom Fighter’s (NEFF) president and commander in chief Epafras Mukwiilongo launched his party’s election manifesto at Oneshila in Oshakati. Mukwiilongo said it is time for the long overdue economic freedom for the majority of Namibians which his party promises to deliver.

Hundreds of mourners gathered to bid farewell to Namibian filmmaker, Oshosheni Hiveluah who died last week after a short illness. Hiveluah known by many as ‘Oshi’ was buried at the Gammams Cemetry in Pioneerspark on Saturday.

Ministry of Works and Transport and Telecom Namibia inaugurated a Navtex Station at the tune of N$7,5 million at Walvis Bay. The first of its kind in Africa, the station provides navigational and meteorological warnings, forecasts and maritime safety information to ships.

Otjiwarongo has been hard hit by water shortages with the municipality implementing water rations to the residents. In a notice issued on Friday, Otjiwarongo Municipality chief executive officer, Ismael /Howoseb says the shortage was due to NamWater’s main reservoir which is at critically low levels. The level of its small reservoir is currently at 28%.
